The Geography Association (GA), in conjunction with the UCLA Geography Department, serves the undergraduate geography community at UCLA with the goals of building a strong geography community, increasing campus awareness of the geographic discipline, and enhancing the academic and research experience. We accomplish our goals by organizing meetings, events, and opportunities to augment geographer skills and interests; giving back to the greater community through service; and creating a network among alumni, faculty, graduate students, and the professional geographic community.
WHAT WE DO
Every other week, under the leadership of the Geography Association Board Members, the GA holds general meetings, during which we form study groups, invite guest speakers from geography-related fields, and discuss upcoming events and opportunities in the UCLA geography community.
Events during the year include but are not limited to hikes, service and fieldwork projects, ethnic dinner night outings, exploring Los Angeles, GIS Day and Geography Appreciation Week, GIS Workshops, attending and presenting at local conferences, various Geography Association projects, and our annual Joshua Tree National Park camping trip during the spring quarter.
